ZIMBABWE: TORTURE, DEATH, STRIKES---AMERICAN BLACKS PAY NO ATTENTION

Like Poland against the Russians? Zimbabwe's main opposition group says that one of its members has died after being tortured by police officials and soldiers. Tichaona Kaguru was taken away from the house of a Movement for Democratic Change councillor in Harare, and later died in a city center hospital, the MDC says.

The police have arrested more than 300 MDC supporters and officials during this week's strike, intended to drive President Robert Mugabe out of power. Mugabe is claiming all these black guys who are risking their lives are just "fronting" for white farmers. Right! Police spokesman Wayne Bvudzijena was quoted by The Associated Press as telling state television that at least 300 opposition officials, activists and supporters had been arrested since the strike began Monday. Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai's lawyers were in court Tuesday fighting state prosecutors' attempts to have imposed tighter bail conditions in connection with his treason trial.
