HEPBURN--ANOTHER HEIRESS BECOMES FEM ICON
Fact: She bought her way all along the line. She was totally washed up because nobody wanted to see this so-called woman in anything. So she paid off Phillip Barry who paid off somebody else and he wrote a play especially for her. She controlled the play because she bankrolled it with inherited money. The play, Philadelphia Story, became a hit movie and more or less rescued her career.
Not to say she wasn't one hell of an actress but without daddy's money she'd have died on the vine in 1936. It can be argued that without daddy's money she might not have chosen to be in such lousy movies before that "Tiger Movie", but who knows?
Another feminist hero operating on somebody else's dime, a dime she didn't earn.
