Baseball is now faster than NFL football by actual count: time between two football plays is 45 seconds, the time it takes to throw two or three pitches. Time between change of possessions in football is two full at bats, time between innings (eight breaks), which isn't that long, is three plays. The NFL now functions as merely an interruption of the commercial flow. I watched the baseball game and caught glimpses of the football game. The NFL nyet. When baseball games mean everything it is exciting. We see the best players who have ever played (don't listen to these old farts talk about the old daze, nobody ever made plays these guys make today, every day), players who are capable of hitting the ball out of the park at every at bat, great base running; in other words some really great baseball. Football has become slow slow slow because of the number of commercials needed to support the insane salary structures AND the stupid prices the networks have paid to carry games. Pro Football is the only programming that reaches males between 14 and 55. Question is: how long will we men continue to sit in front of a tube to watch a hundred stupid commercials so we can see three more plays?
