WHY THE RIOTS IN IRAQ?

The Turks, Kurds, Armenians, and us..... Written in response to replies to my comments at Roger L Simon.

The Middle East is a part of the world where a minor personal insult to a family issued 1,500 years ago is still remembered as if it happened yesterday. Revenge for the insult is still required. When Armenians think about the slaughter of up to 1.5 million Armenians only eighty years ago their rage and thirst for revenge is right at the surface. This genocide actually grows in the consciousness of Armenians by the day. Anger runs higher right now than at any time since 1925. Who did the slaughter? That has not really been a question, because most of written history says the Kurds did it. Proof, as in hard evidence just now coming to light, now says the Turks were responsible.

In the Genocide Memorial Museum (built by the Russians to cause trouble) in Yerivan, the capital of Armenia, there is a document issued by a top Turkish official by the name of Talaat Pasha ordering the elimination--by whatever means necessary---of Armenians from Ottoman lands. The Kurds took up the offer and through another sub-contractor, their irregulars called the Hamodieh, murdered up to 1.5 million Armenians. The corpses were stacked on shelves inside of buildings in almost every town or hung by their necks along the roadsides for as far as the eye could see. These Armenians had lived there for 1,000 years before the Turks arrived. They were slaughtered just for territory. All of North East Turkey was once Anatolia, part of the Armenian country. It had been that way for 1,000 years before the Turks "solved the problem."

The Armenians are not going gently into that sweet night. In May 1992, after the Russian occupation was over, Armenians killed every Kurd standing in the Lachin Corridor. Like "We're baaaaaaakkk!"

Now let's get truly Byzantine, after all that is where we are.

The Kurds and Turks hate each other going back a thousand or so years. Kurdish guerillas still operate in Turkey. Even worse for the Turks is the fact that the population of southern Turkey is largely Kurdish and they are a threat to take over that part of the land. Remember now, the Kurds know the truth about the genocide too.

Next know that for 85 years turkey has wanted to take over the oil fields outside of Mosul in Northern Iraq, the territory now controlled by the Kurds. And the bad old U.S.A.

Syria hates Turkey and the Turks hate Syria.

Syrians support the Kurds.

There is also a five hundred year old Turkish hatred of the Arabs. Street dogs in Turkey are called Arabs. And, and.....

Oh yeah, the Turks are Sunni. Like in the Sunni Triangle in Iraq. The Turks would support them with money and arms. If they could.

And the Jews? Turkey has made lots of deals with Israel, mainly to keep the Syrians and Iranians pissed off. A tactic that has worked.

Byzantine enough for you? Yes? OK, now we get to something entirely Western-Byzantine.

"And God said, "Bring on the Lawyers." Because the really Big Dog in this game is Armenian demands for reparations, like in billions of dollars worth. Now that proof is available that rich rich Turkey with hundreds of billions in their treasury is responsible, the Armenian demands are going through the courts. Turkey wants to remove all proof. They dare not go after Arminia now. Turkey would invade Northern Iraq in a micro-second to kill as many Kurds as possible AND take over the oil fields. The Kurds in southern Turkey are armed and a constant threat to the now Islamic government in Ankara.

We ain't done in Iraq by a long shot.
