Repost....Somebody somewhere ran a long and interesting essay about our foreign policy and then linked to a famous essay called, The Jacksonian tradition and American foreign policy by Walter Russell Mead. The essay appeared long ago in the webzine, The National Interest, and is no longer available unless you pay for it. I have had it in my files since 1999, AND I HAVE POSTED IT HERE. To any of you interested in what Jacksonian is, how it is paramount in our foreign policy today, the real reason for "Red State" politics, or if you are one (at least a part of you is) and what it means, this essay is a must read.
