Super Bowl: I've got news for the NFL. People want to watch the game, not an endless promotion for corporate sponsors. A bunch of us went to the local sports bar to watch the game on a giant screen and get loaded. Shortly after 3PM many "patrons" started to loudly protest the commercials, and by 3:10 they were protesting the endless graphics as well. It got so loud that one of the bartenders switched to the ice skating on ESPN to the wild cheers of the fans. Every time he switched back to the "game" there was another commercial or graphic and the bar exploded with boos. Nobody was interested in the music, which received not only hoots but some rolled up napkins tossed at the screen as well. When the game still hadn't started by 3:35 the noise took on a tinge of nastiness with dozens of guys yelling fucks at the screen and even the waitresses were cussing. When it finally looked like the game might start, Fox brought us instead two stupid sideline interviews. The kickoff was greeted with a satiric cheer. The continued commerical booing did not subside til the middle of the second quarter. Not one moment of any commercial was audible between 3PM and 4:45PM. I don't know how people inside their homes felt. The Halftime Show? The bartender switched to an cable girls football game that the crowd loved.

All I can say is that the NFL better wake up. Far too many commercials and nobody was watching them.
