THE SHIT STORM HITS

Common sense----oh no, not that---over at National Review regarding the bovine droppings over the Newsweek paragraph..

There's a problem here. But it's not insensitivity, and it's not media bias. Those things are condemnable, but manageable. The real problem here is a culture that either cannot or will not rein in a hate ideology that fuels killing. When we go after Newsweek, we're giving it a pass. Again.
There's no way Newsweek, me, FOX or anyone else can be compelled to limit our speech in order to please a billion barbarians who still live in the10th century. This horde of ignorant, unproductive, aboriginal servants of a rigid ideology of violence throws a violent tantrum? Over a book that couldn't fit into any known toilet in the universe? Everything offends them. Western women offend them. Thinking offends them. As does free speech, freedom of religion, life liberty and the prusuit of happiness. Men going to the toilet ignoring the Muslim rules offend them. There is no way Newsweek or anyone else can be held accountable for the phony reactions of savages.

Newsweek made a mistake. The reporter didn't source his story. The editor didn't require him to source it---so what else is new---but to say that a simple statement caused the killing of 30 people is absurd. Islam, a primitive religion, caused the killing of 30 people. Period.

But....

Now we get to see the unbelievable arrogance of the media as they trash the White House for reacting to a lie that they told. People died and the president has a responsibility to speak out. Claudia lays it out there too. And for a totally predictable piece by a self promoter with nothing to offer, go to Simon. A major take from the NYT is here.
