More KELO. I link at the end of this piece to a posting of mine from a year ago. It describes how one of the most beautiful places on earth has been taken over by KELO. But there are means for stealing private property that are available to the rich that do not include local governments openly stealing the land. Most are called "regulatory takings" and are the weapon of choice for the luxury suite gangs. They use new zoning; enviromental rulings (their favorite); fancy grabs where they seem to place the land into general use but do not---example would be a greens fee on a "public golf course" that might be as high as $300 per round (Pebble Beach); developers might put up a luxury complex in a near poverty area knowing the property taxes for the acreage surrounding the new complex will go up so that the current owners are forced to sell or have the county seize their land; there is a ruthless strategy they call "Urban Cleansing;" (which is exactly what it sounds like). Last but not least, and perhaps the worst of all, are harassment suits.

The piece is very very long; it's called Drive by in Paradise; it has had more hits over the past two years than anything I've ever posted (nearly 70,000), and it is HERE.
