THE NOW BORING NEW MEDIA

It had to happen. As the "new media" becomes the present media it's time to look at what blogging has become. It simply is a gathering spot for the chior. Left, Right, Libertarian, Racist, and all the rest preach their narrow POVs to those who share that POV. I assume that only those who agree with me read what I have to say. Emails that used to curse me, abuse me, and so on have virtually disappeared from my inbox, which means the absence of debate. Frankly there is very little out here in blogville that is worth reading unless you want a predictable view from whatever group you chose that day. Ask yourselves this: is there anything posted on---name the blog---that I don't already know or don't already agree with? BTW: there is a clearing spot of sorts called News Pundit which you might visit if you want wide ranging info. There is also a site called "Blogger News Network that has lots of stuff too.

Relax, Howard. If the Commie pinko fag C. of E. Archbishop thinks it bad, it is still good:

Archbishop hits out at web-based media 'nonsense'
By Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent

THE Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, has criticised the new web-based media for “paranoid fantasy, self-indulgent nonsense and dangerous bigotry”. He described the atmosphere on the world wide web as a free-for-all that was “close to that of unpoliced conversation”.

In a lecture to media professionals, politicians and church leaders at Lambeth Palace in London last night, Dr Williams wondered whether a balance could be struck between the professionalism of the classical media and the relative disorder of online communication.

...

Howard, you're just reacting to Instapundit becoming a bore. I suspect that Insty is privately dismayed that his Woodrow-Wilsonian-make-Araby-safe-for-democracy idealism isn't working.

Plus, Prof. Reynolds is probably getting just plain burned out with incessant blogging. One wonders if his wife asks him, "What's all that blogging godd for, unless its making good money?

Some new bloggers are needed. Yes, I've thought about starting my own blog, but I don't think I'd stick with blogging for long, unless I was getting paid to do so.

That brings up another point: nobody's stepping up behind the scenes to fund right wing bloggers, as far as I can tell. No, I don't consider National Review or the Heritage Foundation to be right wing. There seems to be more money available for bloggers on the Left. There may not be any nativist, 100 per cent American patriot Sugar Daddies left out there on the Right. Where of where is Hnery Ford I when we ( read: I ) really need him?

In the meantime, for something different, I suggest www.isteve.com. That's Steve Sailer.

Hey, I'm a left-leaning America-hating Commie, but I still read your blog even though I'd disagree with most of it. The hatemail is probably drying up because people are getting tired of trying to argue with people completely opposed to them. Which is a shame, a decent shouting match is fun now and again :D

Well Howard, I sometimes disagree with you and some of the time I don't even know what your talking about. And most of the time I wonder what your smoking. But other than that I think your pretty intelligent. What should I do with my Google stock? oh crap I didn't buy any.

Rhetorical question: If there's a Vast Right Wing Christian Fundamentalist conspiracy happening, where are the VRWCF bloggers and their VRCF Sugar Daddies?

I know a promising would-be blogger who is available! I'll also do puff piece product reviews for sporty cars, airplanes, boats, vacations, and so on. I'll have to test the products personally before endorsing 'em! ... You can send the kiddie science novels to Glenn Reynolds for sweetheart reviews of same.
