CLAUDIA IS BACK, AND BOY IS SHE EVER PISSED OFF
Under my radar, again but it shouldn't be (my excuse is London). Check out Rosett's latest over at NRO if you missed it. As if it were not possible for the Oil for Food to get any worse, it does. At the very start of the expose' Rosett and a few others thought the real numbers were in the 40 billion class. So far Rosett and the rest have "only" uncovered 20 billion------ta daaa---Rosett has the other--or is it the next---20 billion.
She talks about things like administrative costs averaging out to about $250,000 per employee. Hard to understand $500 million collected for weapons inspections (though for four of the program’s almost seven years, there were no weapons inspections). The mind-bending number is the $19.2 billion in Iraqi oil revenues disbursed by the UNCC, which — to name a handy benchmark — comes to more than three times the $6 billion pledged by various governments and private organizations for tsunami relief. You need to go there, the real terrorists are the UN bureaucrats.
Further under my radar
The Western press has given too little attention to the role of Islamic terrorism in the escalating violence in Thailand. In recent months, militant Islamic separatists in Thailand’s Muslim south have stepped up their campaign of attacking police stations, killing Muslim “collaborators”, and beheading teachers. When the press has covered the story, it’s tried to downplay Muslims' responsibility for the violence and blame it on organized crime, contraband smugglers or the Buddhist government. This is why there are no Muslim moderates. You can read this stuff here. You can also go to a blog that specializes in Thailand and all things terror here and it is a terrific blog. Be sure you go there. Stuff that is probably way under your radar too.
When Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra tried to implement a policy of reconciliation with the Islamic separatists in the Muslim south, militant Islamic terrorists started killing any Muslims they suspected of cooperating with the government.
