Simon, as in Roger M, has a very interesting thought on the similarity between the Trotsky/Stalin commie dispute of the 20s and 30s (that ended with the murder of Trotsky in Mexico), and the Zarqawi/ bin Ladin disputation over where to spread the Islamic Revolution. Read his entire post HERE. I don't generally subscribe to the parallel universe view of things or history repeating itself, but it's interesting. If history repeats itself Zarqawi will have bin Ladin knocked off, something I really doubt, but the party line conflict between the two is a distinct possibility. The main differrence between then and now is that Trotsky firmly believed that HE was following Lenin's orders. Stalin didn't give a shit for Lenin and chose to impose Communism by force on Russia. I don't know WHAT Zarqwi is trying to impose on Iraq, other than a dictatorship more brutal than Saddam ever was. The really big difference here is that we are in the process of training the best Army in the Middle East in Iraq, one that can kick anybody's ass over there and it will be a first rate army just waiting to be led. By somebody. Anybody.
