Orders from on high: In an attempt to prevent the Iraqi constitution committee from submitting its draft, Al-Qaeda in Iraq has posted threats on Islamist forums warning to harm those involved in drafting the constitution, and those who support them. The constitution, it says, is an act of heresy, and those who act to implement it are infidels who must be killed. Zarqawi has a philosophy, of sorts. There are things created by God and things created by man. The things created by God are sacred and must be protected at all costs. The things created by man are evil and must be destroyed. Accordingly, the Shari'a Court of Al-Qaeda in Iraq has decided to fight the drafters of the constitution and those who promote it, and to strike at the centers of the [planned] referendum. The Shari'a Court calls upon people who have gone astray, following the dissenters and those who have erred, to distance themselves from the centers of the heretical elections – because these will constitute a legitimate target for the fire of the Jihad fighters…"
