Still a Bunch of Assholes After All These Years

After I posted the below piece I tried to donate to the Red Cross. An emailer let me know there was a slight "problem" with the Red Cross.

Late Add: OK, OK, the Red Cross is a bunch of fucking assholes. Their link won't accept any credit cards because they are experiencing "technical difficulties." If you phone them you get a recording informing you of "technical etc". Fucking assholes. Real fucking assholes. Even worse, you cannot erase your cc info. I hate to tell you all this.

Much later Add: It's working now. Still......makes me wonder. I donated.

If you guys need some blogging carnival to contribute some money to the Red Cross or Salvation Army right now, you have my contempt. This, an email from the Red Cross....

Thousands of desperate families are taking refuge from Hurricane Katrina in more than 230 Red Cross shelters in the affected areas.

# American Red Cross is launching the largest mobilization of resources for a single natural disaster in our history.
# We’re preparing 500,000 hot meals a day to serve to survivors who have no where else to turn.
# Several hundred emergency vehicles and thousands of ARC staff and volunteers have been deployed from around the country for immediate emergency assistance.

Red Cross disaster response teams are deploying to the hardest hit communities to distribute drinking water and other supplies to victims who were unable to flee from Katrina.

Contributions are urgently needed to support the Red Cross
Go here and cough up ten bucks or so. Please, don't wait to join some self serving "blogger" movement to contribute. And as far as our resentment of the Red Cross actions after 9/11, hell you just have to trust that they cleaned it up. Please give, and give right now.

Yeah, I know about the Red Cross.

But like you say, we just have to trust that they'll do a better job here. And loud applause for your comments on the blogger drive for contributions. It's stupid. You wrote what I thought but was second-guessing myself on.
