Markets: as reports continue to come in that the port of New Orleans could be up and running by Friday, all grain prices are rebounding and oil product prices declining. No way rates will rise either. Congress, which seems unable to do anything, is "talking" about dropping the Federal Gasoline tax and removing the "boutique" gasoline "for a while." My bet: the envirowhacks will never move, they don't care if blue collar people starve. Port of New Orleans is opening as we speak. Barges have sunk in the river and must be removed.

Economy: No question there will be a building boom. But wait til the lawyers file suit after suit to "save" buildings, a process that will paralyze reconstruction and perhaps kill New Orleans. Our elites will piss and moan about the loss of fine restaurants.

Lawyers: will sue everyone and line their pockets. Reconstructioin may not happen as fast as we hope, and don't forget that the Democratic party is a virtual surrogate for the trial lawyers. The sewage and bodies are going to create havoc. Scientists at LSU are testing the "water" and are finding hundreds of times more e-coli than "normal." Stand by on this one.
