The one thing that the defenders of the administration make: "Everybody knew Plame worked for the CIA," is now demonstrably false. In truth, nobody knew, and if any of these right wing reporters had gotten off their dead asses and gone to the neighborhood and asked they would have found out. But Right Wingers are just as lazy as the lazy Lefties, they only know what they hear over the phone, in D.C. bars, and read on right wing websites.
We have a despicably lazy press on both Left and Right.
The story seems to have originated in the Washington Times in a single sentence contained in an editorial that ran on 7/26 as well as another on 7/19 and then spread as Gospel by all the dopes on the Right too lazy to check. There seems to have been only one person who knew her and knew she was CIA and he was no longer a neighbor. The NYT reported and quoted David Tillotson, the same neighbor quoted in The Washington Times article, as well as another neighbor, Christopher Wolf::
On June 1, after a year's unpaid leave, Ms. Wilson, now known to the country by her maiden name, Valerie Plame, returned to a new job at the Central Intelligence Agency, determined to get her career back on track, her husband said. Neither the agency nor Mr. Wilson would describe her position, except to make what might seem an obvious point: she will no longer be working under cover, as she did successfully for almost 20 years. There is plenty like this, but I was too lazy to really check it out too. So there.....
"Before this whole affair, no one would ever have thought of her as an undercover agent," said David Tillotson, a next-door neighbor for seven years who got to know the Wilsons well over back-fence chats, shared dinners and play dates for their grandchildren with the Wilsons' children, Trevor and Samantha.
"She wasn't mysterious," Mr. Tillotson said. "She was sort of a working soccer mom."
He recalled his incredulity on July 14, 2003, when his wife, Victoria, spotted in The Washington Post, in a syndicated column by Robert Novak, a line identifying their neighbor by her maiden name and calling her an "agency operative." Ms. Tillotson kept calling out: "This can't be! This can't be!"
The Wilsons' neighbor on the other side, Christopher Wolf, was similarly aghast. As he sat on his deck staring at the Novak column, Mr. Wilson came out his back door.
"I said: 'This is amazing! I had no idea,"' Mr. Wolf recalled. "He sort of motioned to me to keep my voice down."

Howard chill. What is the deal with Plame? She was female 007? Please. A working soccer mom as a super spy, say wasn't that a character in Spy
kids? There are a lot of positions in the agency, from analyst, spy, to janitor. You and I and the lazy press haven't a clue what her position was in the Agency, other than the fact she was an employee. Real covert agents are just that, covert, there is no admission of their ever being covert now or in the past. Covert activity is spying which is considered unlawful by any country spied upon ie; espionage. we jail foreign spies when caught by us and other nations jail or execute spies working for us. that is why there is always denials or silence and never a formal admission or recognization.period end of story. that is how the game is played and must be played to avoid loss of face or create a casus belli.
Any intellegence service worthy of that title keeps tabs on foreign diplomats posted to their country and the diplomat's family and other obvious potential spies. When Plame married Wilson her cover was blown, if she ever was a covert agent, and highly doubtful to ever be considered for covert work again even if the Novak story was never published.
This whole thing is bs from start to finish. it's a hatchet job pulled by some CIA hacks to do the Bush administration in. that my friend is the real scary part of this thing and that is precisely what the special prosecuter is not investigating. these are the real crimes that are being covered up right in front of our eyes. the whole thing is a dog and pony show to divert our attention that there is something wrong, bad wrong at the Agency. Instead what do we get after two years, Libby indicted for lying about something that in and of itself is not a crime. this has even less weight than the Martha Stewart case. Talk about prosecutorial misconduct.
The French give us a bogus (to the CIA) report about Saddam trying to get yellow cake uranuim from Niger, and lo and behold secret agent 008 1/2 Valerie Plame recomends to the Powers That Be that Joe Wilson, moonbat democrat shill diplomat, be sent to Niger to check this out. After getting a bs report from Wilson, Dick Cheney having a few working neurons, smells a rat and fact checks the players behind the report and through Libby sets out to rightfully discredit Wilson and Plame who are shilling for the democrats and in the process abusing their positions in government service. They, the rogues in the CIA and the democratic party co-conspirators are the criminals here as well as the special prosecutor who is running cover for them all. The democrats, copperheads and traitors since 1861.
Bush and the pussy republicans ought to come out swinging and expose the the left for what it really is, a fifth collumm. no holding back, full shotgun blast between the eyes. And now before it's too late.
