Lots of conservative blogs are commenting on the complete silence from the Left regarding the cartoon issue. Malkin has a good rundown on the whole thing. Keep in mind that there is this Muslim fatwa against Salman Rushdie for writing a book called "Satanic Verses":

The author of The Satanic Verses, a text written, edited, and published against Islam, against the Prophet of Islam, and against the Koran, along with all the editors and publishers aware of its contents, are condemned to capital punishment. I call on all valiant Muslims wherever they may be in the world to execute this sentence without delay, so that no one henceforth will dare insult the sacred beliefs of the Muslims.

A hell of a lot of European cartoonists are going into hiding.

In so far as the Left Silence is concerned, a party or movement that stands for absolutely nothing is making a statement by their silence. Their silence speaks volumes well reams no not that either. Speaks pages, well it speaks notes (like in dough ray me) about their high pricipals and commitment to freedom. Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin will comment tomorrow. Or the day after. Babra Streissand is writing a song. And the usual suspects will run a full page ad in the New York Times as soon as it is safe to do so.
