QUESTION OF THE WEEK: The PTA or School District arbitrarily bans all junk food and sodas from all high school and junior high campuses. In a capitalist society what would be the most likely result?

A. Kids would go along because they know junk food is bad
B. Kids would start a black market in all banned foods
C. Parents would sue because kids should have a choice

If you picked B, you are a capitalist running dog and you are correctomento. The LA School District, prodded by well off Politically Correct and Left parents, banned all junk foods from all vending machines on all campuses. Within a week kids were coming to school with backpacks filled to the brim with candy and cokes AND SELLING THEM to ususpecting users, creating addicts all over the place. Next step? Well the Junk Food Police will show up on campus armed with the authority to arrest and charge all dealers of the addictive junk foods with dealing in banned substances. Want to bet the cases get thrown out of court?

As an aside for all those revolting PC parents and teachers: the replacement "health foods" are no different in sugar content than the "junk" variety. Check out Gator Aid and some of the "health bars."

I'll get back to you on this one.

Ingredients of really good for you Gator Aid (note that fructose is sugar): water, sucrose syrup, glucose-fructose syrup, citric acid, natural and artificial flavors, salt, sodium citrate, monopotassium phosphate, ester gum, sucrose acetate isobutyrate, yellow 5

Ingredients of horrible junk 7UP: carobonated water, apple juice from concentrate, less than 2% of calcium gluconate, calcium lactate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), natural flavors, sucralose (splenda brand, a non-nutritive sweetener), acesulfame potassium (sunnett brand, a non nutritive sweetener), fruit and vegetable juices (for color), malic acid, potassium sorbate, sodium bexametaphosphate and calcium disodium edta (to protect flavor)

Sugar content: Gatoraid 14 gram, horrible 7UP one gram.
