ESPN EXPOSED AS A BIG MARKET TEAM HYPE SHOP
NCAA final game: another boring slaughter from the start, a game that was over by the first TV timeout. Too bad, most of the games leading up to the Final Four were among the most exciting of the year. The tournament proves one thing to all of us: ESPN sports opinion sucks. They suck because they are after ratings and the only teams that matter are those near Eastern big market cities. The Big East is no better than most other conferences, but as long as ESPN carries their games in an early time slot they will hype the East Coast teams in order to inflate prices they can charge to adertisers. Can you see the angst in suitville if teams playing in games that start at 9 or 10PM EST were said to be the best? ("Stay tuned for the game between Number One Texas vs Number Three UCLA at 10PM Eastern?") It has been clear all year that teams like Gonzaga, Washington, Memphis State, Texas and a few others with late games were just as good or better, than the ESPN hyped Big East or the ACC, but not to ratings starved ESPN. The network will parade their paid army of "experts" before us til we stop watching them.
