It's "Deadwood," stupid. The emptiness of the Emmy "Awards" is proven beyond the shadow of a doubt when a series of this astounding quality on every level doesn't get even one nomination. HBO deserves better from the "Academy." But then what should we expect from a group that awards "Desperate Housewives" as the artistic mountain top?

The Emmy is a feather that all production companies actively campaign for, so we must assume that HBO (97 nominations) execs felt that Deadwood was so violent in both language and action, that they didn't campaign for it. If you ain't watching it you are missing sensational TV, all of it conforming exactly to the history of that town and the language and actions of that era of the really "wild West."

Right as always, Howard. It's TV's "Empty" Awards. Deadwood works on every level, scripts, cast, production. No wonder it doesn't get recognized!

I agree, and that fight to the finish last Sunday was like all fights of that type have to end: in murder. "Deadwood" is exactly how wild the "Wild West" really was.
