Richard Armitage, an aparatchick in the State Department, was the source of the Plame leak to Novak. He kept his mouth shut while an innocent man (Scooter Libby) has been maliciously persecuted by a Justice Department who knew within five days of the appointment of Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald that Armitage, and not Scooter Libby, was the "leaker." The always ethical Special Prosecutor Fitzgerald knew five days after he was placed in the position, but that didn't stop him from wrongfully accusing innocent people anyway.
