Of WalMart and stuff: Kramer, on Mad Money last nite, made an interesting observation regarding declining sales at low low price WalMart. Their customer base is mostly the working poor who need low prices in order to live at all. He got a D/L renewal letter that demanded various proofs of residency that are so daunting, even for him, that there is no way any illegal will apply for a license. This will have the effect of driving the entire "underground economy" into employment that is so low paying that they will only be able to afford food. No money to shop for other things. He believes the turn down in WalMart sales is directly the reflection of the loss of immigrant customers. Interesting point. Especially when you look at the soaring retail sales at most other stores and on the web.
