OMFG, A COMBACK?

Don't laugh, duh surge is gunna work in the short run, and the current "vote" on the non-binding resolution is not playing well in Lefty SoCal and perhaps other climes as well. The total gutlessness of voting on something that doesn't mean anything just to "show" what you actually think is mendacity taken to a new low and cowardice launched into a new universe. And people are noticing, especially some of the local schomkel talk radio hosts in the late afternoon drive time around here.

And then there is a major piece by David Broder in the Washington Post which starts:

It may seem perverse to suggest that, at the very moment the House of Representatives is repudiating his policy in Iraq, President Bush is poised for a political comeback. But don't be astonished if that is the case.
Broder has one of the best set of antennae in the fortune telling business, and the blatant hypocrisy of the current cowardly "debate", that forbids cutting the funding of our troops is hurting the Democrats right now, he says.
By contrasting today's vote on a nonbinding resolution with the pending vote on funding the war in Iraq, he shifted the battleground to a fight he is likely to win -- and put the Democrats on the defensive. Much of their own core constituency wants them to go beyond nonbinding resolutions and use the power of the purse to force Bush to reduce the American commitment in Iraq.
And then there is "the surge," which will surely work in the short term: larger forces with superior technology win battles if not wars. McCain has already jumped the shark when he compared Iraq to Tet, which was the small VietCong offensive that was reported by our lying press as a VC victory. It was their pro-Communist reporting of the complete falsehood of an American defeat that sealed the deal over there. Well if this is Tet it is our side doing the "Tetting." And once again our traitorous press is doing the job of depicting us as evil incompetents.

Big mistake. Bush popularity will come back as the surge continues to rout a motley band of disorganized natives. Murtha and the boys, joined by just 10% of the Republicans in the House, have attacked the president at the wrong time. What looks like the safe move is actually the most risky. As this is writ Saddr and his entire "command structure" have fled to Iran and is now sealed inside borders that have been closed.

In addition, there has always been a revolution ready to explode in Iran and it seems that it may have started just as the stupid Democrats have taken a stand forbidding the president from helping them. It ain't over til the fat lady sings and right now she's stuck in the wings waiting for her cue, surrounded by pigeon hearted Republicans and hyena Democrats all wanting to share a spotlight that may not ever come on.

Should we care?
