(ANOTHER) DAGGER IN THE HEART OF TV NEWS

The real "news" about the appointment of Rick Kaplan to head CBS evening news is that his installation means that the network has made a conversion from the pretense of presenting news to an overt propagator of disgraceful propaganda. Period. Worse, Kaplan led(?) MSNBC to a last place in the overall TV news ratings and is now promoted. In other words, in spite of the fact that MSNBC has all the resources of NBC News, they were watched by nobody but media suck up Don Imus. So now CBS will be under the microscope from all the blog attack dogs, salivating beasts who will be policing every word. Watch for the credibility of CBS to approach Daily Worker levels.

I heard an interesting observation while driving yesterday by a respected lesbian or Republican or criminal journo "expert" who actually made a lot of sense. I've been wondering how these well known journalistic slag heaps like the LA and NY Times, CBS News, and in truth most MSM media, keep their viewer-readership. The guy said that some people now get their news from only one source. The inference I drew from his remarks was that if you check the ad content on network news, you will see the ads are almost all for products used by the over 55 crowd; the audience is clearly old. Either the "too busy to care" news users get all their news from the NYT, all of if from CBS, and so on or they don't know or care what is going on at all.

He differentianted the MSM crowd from cable news viewers who channel surf and get their news from many sources. Asked about the web and bloggers, the guy opined that the biases and distortions rampant on the web are simply evaluated and not taken seriously. He meant that we who populate the web aren't regarded as anything other than observers or commentators of the real news media. He neglected to tell us what "the real news" media is.
