At Last---Big Mo and the Virgins
Just when we all thought that paintings of the great Mo were illegal and stuff and we will all be killed if we show the Great One's visage at all, comes this compilation of hundreds of paintings done between 1100 and around 1500, and all painted or done by Muslims. Just so you know exactly how much bullshit is out there regarding cartoons, paintings and so on.
Mohammed (upper right) visiting Paradise while riding Buraq, accompanied by the Angel Gabriel (upper left). Below them, riding camels, are some of the fabled houris of Paradise -- the "virgins" promised to heroes and martyrs. This image and the following five images are Persian, 15th century, from a manuscipt entitled Miraj Nama, which is in the Bibliotheque Nationale, Paris. Taken from The Miraculous Journey of Mahomet, by Marie-Rose Seguy.
This blasphemous yukkiepoo is from around 1300. There is a site that has and links to various pictures of the great prophet. You can start here and surf. But there are literally hundreds of paintings and etchings of him done before 1500.
