RENT ANNIE GET YOUR GUN
A great observation within a review by Libertas:
American filmmakers do evil’s bidding by trying to convince us it’s all relative. This would also serve as a comment on American Liberals and their fellow travelers.
Then: they have a terrific piece on the late Betty Hutton, the most overlooked of all the old "stars." She was so much better in Annie Get Your Gun than that drunken over the hill Judy Garland could ever have been, yet the crew and cast on the set were so cruel to her that she left the business. A great great talent. Once in a while you get to see her without the filter of film when a local channel will televise an old Dinah Shore Show or Carol Burnett Hour and you get to see a fantastic performer strutting the best stuff ever. Annie is a total must rent/buy partially ruined by a Hollywhore doing a disgusting PC prologue which basically trashes both Berlin and the movie for being hostile to Indians. Fast forward through it and get ready for one of the great performances in a Berlin musical, one that had seven (7) number one hits (yes, 7 hits from the same show), including "There's No Business Like Show Business." The best musical rental out there. Trust me.
