A Cork Upon the Sea
I don’t listen or watch Imus’ show regularly. Has he at any point glorified selling crack cocaine to black women? Has he celebrated black men shooting each other randomly? Has he suggested in any way that it’s cool to be a baby-daddy rather than a husband and a parent? Does he tell his listeners that they’re suckers for pursuing education and that they’re selling out their race if they do?---Jason Whitlock in the Kansas City StarAs the slime begins to get soaked up by the surrounding sand of sanity Imus supporters are now being heard. I have no idea how much charity money he is directly responsible for raising, no idea how much time he has spent (time is more important than money), or how many influential people he has nudged to front same, but many of those he has helped are now stepping gingerly up to the plate. Not so gingerly are WFAN jock jocks "Mike and the Mad Dog" who are tearing into their CBS employers and anyone else who has stabbed Imus in the back. So Whitlock ain't the only one who sees; Sean Hannity and Alan Comes have come out four square for both free speech and against the hypocrisy of most attackers; the silence of gutless politicos like Lieberman and a few other "friends", Kerry (who issued a more than typical gutless Kerry "rebuke") most show that a lot of people in high places also see the sanctimoniousness and outright evil intent of many of the Imus critics.
Prediction: he will be back, and bigger than ever. The only question is whether his return will be on AM radio or satellite radio. He has lots of friends, and they are well deserved friends. How about MSNBC? That total loser network loses their biggest ratings getter, their biggest "increasing audience" star, and apparently the only reason for anyone to watch. Watching an old guy in a stupid cowboy hat crouching over a microphone and spewing his opinions about everything under the sun while his pretentious intellectual side kick, Charles McCord, reads the news from the morning papers as if twelve hour old news was important---yes, I said he reads newspaper headlines as if that were news----and a parade of MSM guests hustling books and opinions. All of this while just sitting there. This is what passes for a TV "show" on MSNBC (a "ho ho" News channel).
So he'll be back because the affectations of his attackers are too obvious to ignore. I'll bet his old time media "friends" like NBC's just so precious David Gregory, the balanced Tim Russert, and some of the other MSM back stabbers will be stumbling all over themselves to get in good with him again. Like corks upon the sea, people like Imus, and his MSM suck ups, will never really sink.
