NOODLE SPINED BRITS?

From emailer JF of Redondo Beach CA

Unfortunately I speak with some experience. I'll bet a thousand pounds sterling that the Brit troops received no training at all on how to react to capture, how to handle the well known techniques used by Iranians, and how to deal (or not deal at all) with their captors. I'm a Korean vet, and remember the abuse the prisoners who signed germ warfare confessions had to put up with; I believe several of them were tried by court martial and convicted. Fact: had I been captured I'd have signed everything they did. None of us were trained, not even for a single hour. If you talk to any of the ex POWs you will find that they were in a daze for years. The only one I know of who survived whole was a guy who had as a barracks mate a missionary, a guy who knew what bugs to eat, what wood to suck on, what grass or other vegetation to ingest. He lost 45 pounds but was in very good health when released.

I've always believed the courts martial trials those ex POWs were subjected to were show trials to cover up the ineptness of the officer class that neglected to train those guys.

In other words: it's the training, stupid.
