WTF?

Price of crude oil last year at this time $80

Price of unleaded gasoline last year at this time $2.35

Price of crude oil right now $64

Price of unleaded gasoline right now $2.41

Just the messenger. People seem to agree that it's the lack of refining capacity, none built in twenty years.

Note: prices quoted are futures prices from NYMEX, not retail.

We got plenty of capacity...no new refineries, but lots of expansions of the "old" ones. It's the stupid formulation requirements we got.

We should focus our rage on the government price gougers.

Exxon makes 9 cents per gallon profit. Federal tax alone is 18.4 cents per gallon. States also tax gas. Adding my states tax to the theft, I pay over 40 cents per gallon government graft.

Governments are the true price gouging, profiteering, thieves.
