Investors Business Daily explodes the Oil Tax, the moronic ethanol policy (another winner for Bush), and the fact that we will now be subsidizing all the inefficient "alternative" energy sources. The result? $6 per gallon gasoline.

"Gas consumers can expect to pay between $3.16 and $3.79 a gallon for gas in 2008" due to the Senate energy bill, a Heritage Foundation analysis found. "By 2016, all states can expect gas prices in excess of $6 . . . consumers would spend an average of $1,445 more per year on gasoline in 2016 than in 2008."

Those billions won't come out of the pockets of any cigar-chomping oil men. They'll come out of the oil companies' huge investments in drilling for and refining new supplies of oil and natural gas. Yes, it will hurt development of alternative energies, too.

As well as all those new taxes, gas prices would go up because of the bill's higher ethanol content requirements.

Alternatives to fossil fuels are worth developing for the long term, but what's truly "childish" is the wide-eyed belief on the part of Grassley and others in ethanol as a feasible alternative fuel.

Read the whole thing HERE I look at it as another reason to be rid of the faux Republicans in Congress, fucking RINOs all..
