Glad to see the Brits now have that capability. The US has had that for years. They also have a catalog of EVERY ship in the world and the noise each one makes. They can run a database check on each noise and see who is out and about.
They can also tell how the maintenance is going and if the prop shaft bearings are going out by their acoustic emissions. So they can know the state of maintenance of most shipping in the world.
