On shorting Wal Mart....
A ton, like in lots and lots, of business experts and stock market touts are telling one and all to short Wal Mart stock. The reason? The shopping experience is not very good. Now WTF does shopping experience mean? Bad ice ice cream? Incorrectly marked merchandise? Prices too high? Well, it's none of the above. Had charge of three six year olds over the weekend and all of them wanted some toy or other that was...."only at Wal Mart," like ten year olds from China are the only ones in the world who can make good stuff. So????The first Wal Mart had six checkout stands open and there were twenty people in each line and all of them had a shit load of stuff in their carts. Went to another one and experienced the same thing. Promised to get the toys the next AM. Went to a Wal Mart and at 8:15AM there were two check stands open and lines forever. Went to another one close to a white and upper class neighborhood and there were plenty of check stands open. So I guess the "shopping experience" is pretty bad in most stores. So keeping with the Peter Lynch basic stock advisory to shop the stores you are going to buy, Wal Mart is a short. And then some. BUT their HD TVs are half the price of the "good stores." So if you know exactly what you are buying, Wal Mart is for you, but don't expect knowledgeable sales people. Hidden costs, doncha know......
