Da Show Biz
I saw the Bourne Ultimatum. I had an ultimatum for Ultimatum about ten minutes into it which was: "You have five minutes to end this movie or I'm going to scream." To sum it up, the movie was 90 or more minutes of endless confusing chases in cars and on foot done in super close ups interrupted from time to time with a killing or a fight. Another way of saying that it is just dazzling hot air. Story? Who cares? Wooden women and swarthy guys who say things like "go" and "remove the target" means no sex scenes, love story, or even a sex crime to make things lighter. The vicious villain? The U.S. government. (Like big surprise.)But the chases were good, right? Totally wrong. Why? Because the brilliant director (Greenglass, remember that name) uses ultra tight closeups and a deliberately shaking camera so you can't tell who is who (if you cared). But the acting, that's good ain't it? Read me: sticks can't act. Period. There isn't a single person to care about in the entire movie other than the big titted girl behind the candy counter. Better casting would have been Bart Simpson as Bourne and Homer Simpson as head of the CIA. I have a hard time believing that word of mouth will save this shitty movie.
BTW the previews of upcoming sumer extravaganzas show that more Hate America cinematic horrors are in the pipeline.

I thought it was the best of the three, but then again, I only judge a movie on how entertained I am. I enjoyed the goofy camera work, It gave the impression you were running with Bourne. I also got a giggle out of the spy vs. spy angle of the scenes. Having a rogue agency get their tradecraft turned on them was interesting to watch. That is the key phrase "rogue agency". Not the government, but a rotten section chief and his minions, who got nailed in the end. Matt Damon may be a tool, but he plays this character spot on. The theatre I was in broke out in spontaneous applause twice, once after an pre movie Army recruiting ad (kinda cool) and once after the movie ended. I guess it boils down to I enjoyed it for what it was, a fast paced espionage action flick. In that regard it excelled.
I agree, the movie sucked. I don't understand how it is scoring 95% on rottentomatoes. There was no plot, all of the interesting characters get killed, and not even a hint of humor.
Waste of $8.50.
