Buried deep within this Libertas posting is the news about the extent of Middle Eastern financing of Hollywood output.

With the credit crunch hurting Hollywood’s efforts to raise fresh capital on Wall Street, it has found new investors in the form of Middle Eastern sheikhs flush with dollars from sky high oil prices. (Sort of interesting thinking about how every time we pay over $3 for a gallon of gas we could be helping to finance the latest anti-American film). Warner Bros has convinced Abu Dhabi to invest $250 mm in films and another deal is reported close for Arab money to back up a $284 mm movie fund. Considering all the anti-American films saturating the theatres it seems only natural Middle Eastern money would start to flow to Hollywood.
