Movies
Saw Gone Baby Gone.....first tip of how the movie was doing was the audience count of three at the usually popular (around here) 5PM slot. There was no line to see the next showing and not many people in the lobby for the 7:30 time slots. This movie starts out to be one of the very best movies I've seen in a long time. Then.....You guessed it, the movie suddenly slows down, the plot becomes insanely complex, the acting becomes one note, and the ending is one long long long bullshit excuse for a "surprise ending from hell." The other thing is the boring and monotonous tone of voice used by star Casey Affleck. I mean that monotone...pause..monotone again, worked in Jessie James but finally kills him in this one. Stay away til it shows up on line or steal a DVD from somewhere.

Then there were the previews
of upcoming "must see" sure fire hits that you have to go see if you want to remain hip. God Spare Us. One of them stars the "shoplifter" Winona Ryder (who looks great in what I presume are not stolen clothes), and with the exception of a single preview there is nothing to recommend. At least the Hate America shit is gone---or is it? Hollywood is suddenly trying to convince everyone that there ain't no agenda in anything. (Message? What message? In my movie? No way. I love this fuckin' country, man.") None of the movies looks to be entertaining and all look very intense and without humor or anything else. If this is Summer Fun Hollywood Style, look for more red ink.
