Breakfast with some broads before the game started: I was very surprised at the number of them who were having second thoughts about Hillary. Two of their number were local democrat operatives who were Clinton all the way and they didn't look happy as the conversation turned negative for Hillary. But this group of women were---and are---bigots anyway. They had been into the feminist movement (some secretly), a movement that was all Clinton all the time---only because she was a woman. They're turning toward Obama only because he's Black and he'd be "good for the country." Clinton has to be more than just a woman. And since she isn't one anyway I think it is really over for her. There never was much genuine messianic enthusiasm for her in any forum I am aware of, just plodding get out of my way asshole power.
The inevitable is dead.
The Republicans? Asleep still and without a clue. They're talking about what nobody is interested in hearing. The Obama wave is fueled basically by young people. Thinking back to my "young" I was never interested in "how to get there" I only cared about the stated goals. Nobody ever thought how to integrate the South. We just did it without any clue as to the South, the people down there, or anything Southern. We just "flooded" the zone. Did we think about people getting killed? Fuck no.
Change is in the air, as Reagan was in the air back in 1980, a huge enthusiastic wave, fueled by young people back then who just wanted something different from the New Deal crapola. Today under thirty young people want something different than the Republican crapola.
One other thing: I have noted from the forty or so people at my work place that there is real hostility toward the "60s" assholes. They are sick of the Beatles, Dylan, and all the other "nostalgia" currentyly the vogue in the boomer crowd. This is a pool of resentment that best be mollified.

Your fightin' the last war, old man.
When the young flooded the south, they could, because there were so many of them. Them days is gone!
The young have enthusiasm...and nothin more. it translates into very few votes. Obama is a senator, and an inexperienced one. Thompson will crush him.
I think you better switch connections. You obviously got some very poor quality drugs. You better look at the turn out figures. Obama youth are blowing the doors off while the Baby Booms nod their heads and shut their eyes.
The problem with young people is they go to rallies, marches, internet "money bombs", etc. But when November 2 comes along they won't bother to vote.
It makes sense when you remember back to those days and realize getting laid was what occupied 100% of your thinking process. At least for the guys, anyway.
