The "Fuck you Just in Case" Man
You cannot ever trust a man who has withstood torture and didn't break.
This is a rule set in stone among intel wonks and spooks. They reason that after enduring unthinkable pain and suffering there is nothing left for a survivor of torture to be afraid of. Thus, McCain, the ultimate torture survivor, is afraid of nothing. He looks with amusement at "tough" questioning from so-called reporters. He disdains all those who stand in his way. He will not cave for any reason on any subject and his record as a "maverick" simply reinforces the spook rule of untrustworthiness.
He ain't selling out. Once on a course he will stay his course. He was willing to have his prospects for the presidency crash on the rocks of opinions of others. The original "Fuck You Just in Case" man thinks he can be president without kissing the usual asses; without caving to the usual and unusual pressure groups; without bowing to God or Satan, to civil and uncivil rights groups, or to anyone over and under the sun.
He's John McCain, and fuck you if you don't like him. This is a really tough bastard and none of us has ever really known one, at least one like him. Can we trust him to be president? Well, what we see is what we will get, and you can count on it.
So what about the Gang of Fourteen? McCain Feingold? So what about them? He decided that certain pieces of legislation should come to the floor of the Senate and he did whatever it took to make it happen. He did not ask permission. He thought that he could "fix" campaign financing irregularities and without permission sought an agreeing enemy and slipped legislation by the Senate, legislation which passed muster in the Supreme Court. Conservatives have mistrusted anything coming down from the Court ever since Earl Warren, the biggest mistake Ike says he ever made.
McCain is also a guy who will do whatever it takes to get the things he believes are right passed. He just doesn't give a shit what we think of him. He believes he was not put on earth to make anyone else happy.
Tough guy. Tough to take. Now the questions are: will we take him? And does he give a fat fuck if we don't?

Fuck no! to both questions.
Did you hear Rush's opener today? Holy shit! McCain is toast. Not because of his own faults, but because of the broken Republican party. It's over for them.
The good news, the conservatives have nowhere to go. Yay! Maybe now they will finally stand up. They are in good shape, otherwise. Which is to say, they have people, now they need organization.
Yup. I totally agree.
His campaign song should be "My Way".
People who think this guy is a moderate just do not understand him.
If Hillary gets the nomination, we are going to have a choice between two candidates each of whom represent the party of Self.
If you really agree with either of them, that could be a good thing. If you have doubts, it's scary as all hell.
