Behind the low unemployment numbers: illegals in construction business. They don't register for unemployment, vote, pay SS or anything else but if you live in SoCal, Arizona, Texas or several other states you will see that Mexicans make up what looks to be 90% of all workers on all building sites. Since the credit "crises" and the "crackdowns" on employers, the building projects in my area are virtually deserted; no workers at all. Commercial building projects, many of which have union workers (by required in bids), are up and running with brown skinned men all over the place...BUT I'm told that the union workers are Americans of Latin descent and not aliens of any kind. With literally all residential building stopped it cannot be that unemployment claims are flat unless the workers have vanished (returned to Mexico??).
