If you missed it. Tape it tonight when it's shown on MSNBC. Wimbledon finals. The best tennis match ever played. Any shot you saw in your imagination these two guys actually made. Nothing anyone can say is enough.

Late add: to those of you who never played let me explain what the announcers meant when they said Nadal hit a "heavy" ball. My tennis background, such as it is, was that I made the semi-finals and the quarters in two big fifteen and under tournaments. In other words I played good people. I also hit with them. Segue to the early 90s and one of the young guys in the office said that had he stuck with it he might have been a pro tennis player. So I went out and hit with him. Different generations, different tennis. The top spin played now is the result of racquets, conditioning, grip of the racquet, and stroke. They now grip the racquet so that as seen from above you see the racquet face horizontal to the ground. In other words, if you laid the racquet on the ground and picked it up, the result would be today's forehand grip. Thus gripped, when a forehand is hit the racquet is twisted hard twice; once just before the ball is hit and again after you hit it. This means that you twist the the racquet face so that the ball can be hit, then as the ball is hit there is another vicious twist so that the ball is hit with the resulting top spin of the ball, a rotation that causes the ball to break quickly down as a result of the top spin. So, I'm playing with this guy and I see the ball making violent bounces and breaking like a curve ball in baseball. He was playing the new style BUT when I hit back I had to hit the ball very hard using top racquet speed in order to get the ball back.....the top spin made it seem "heavy." Worse, when I went to the net and saw the ball coming in looked like an egg spinning at me. I couldn't just volley, I had to catch it in front of me and hit the fucking thing; again it felt really heavy. Once in a white the ball also "broke" like a slider in baseball so that I was not capable of returning his forehand. The next day my arm hurt something terrible and the young guy told me that you can't play that kind of tennis unless you work out. Federer and Nadal hit very "heavy" balls that dip and break, but at 100mph. A great match. Catch it if you can.

I no longer watch Wimbledon since
they changed the prize so women
get paid more. Both the women and
mens winner get paid the same now.
Yet women play 3 sets to the men playing 5. So now men get paid less per set. This is called "equality" in today's matriarchy.
