England: Island of Deceit

Hot Air is running a piece about how the Brits "cut a deal" with Moqtada al-Sadr in Iraq, one that cost hundreds and maybe thousands of US and Iraqi lives. The Times of London reports in today's edition that the British had struck a secret deal with Sadr to stay out of Basra and not to oppose the Mahdi Army; the term used is not appeasement---it's called "accommodation." Everyone sounds shocked, shocked I tell you, that the Brits stabbed both us and the Iraqis in the back. Jesus Christ guys, the Brits have a five hundred year record of stabbing their allies in the back and looting every country they "colonized." They looted losing Germany after WWII taking almost every piece of factory equipment for their own and set it all up inside England.....BUT...because Germany had to start from scratch they had the best industrial base in the world by 1956. So fuck England. The WWII guys will tell you about the refusal of Brit soldiers to fight during "tea breaks," ducking out of combat in the desert under Montgomery; and the trouble Ike had with their outright refusal to do the dirty work. And don't forget that the slaughter of our 8th Air Force during WWII was a direct result of the Brits demanding the right to fire bomb German cities at night, leaving the attacks on Reich factories to the USA in the daytime. Had the Germans won WWII Brit Air Marshall "Bomber Harris" would have been tried as a war criminal. Dresden wasn't the only helpless city he destroyed. BTW, because the Germans developed a superior radar, the Brit night bombers were basically put out of the war til the P-51 came on line, a plane that could fly with bombers all the way to targets and back. The American P-51 was vastly superior to the fabled Spitfire and everything else in the sky til he jets became operational.

England has always been for England. Period. Their track record, especially enslaving giant China by addicting the Chinese to opium, is a history of double dealing, lying, murder, and everything else you can think of. They are disgraceful, expert at clandestine double dealing, and we are wrong to think otherwise. Always remember that the Royal Family secretly supported the Nazis against England til the bombs started falling.

I haven't heard yet, but I'll bet a month's wages that the good ol' Brits are not only staying out of combat in Afghanistan but are making every deal they can make in order to stay hidden away so the Americans can get killed.

Didn't our bombing by day & their bombing by night have something to do with our higher quality of bombsights, which we refused to share with them?

The bomb sight to which you refer is the Norton bomb sight. It's secrecy was a joke because the Germans knew all about it from schematics as far back as 1939. The orders to US crews to destroy the bomb sight if they were shot down were nearly impossible to follow so the Germans would have had it anyway. The accuracy credited to the Norton was vastly over stated (war time propaganda) and most bombs directed by the Norton fell a thousand feet or more from the target. So we had the improved bomb sight before the war and before we got into it. The accuracy stuff is fiction and the Brits flew nights because (they were clever or afraid) and we flew days because we are Americans and we are brave. BTW the Norton would have been useless at night with the technology available at the time.

Our planes had better armor and defensive firepower. Theirs had greater bomb loads. The P-51 was a mediocre plane until mated with the Brit Merlin engine. Neither air force really inflicted truly damaging losses to the Krauts until the long range escorts appeared in numbers along with the improved allied radar and ECM. The Brits also suffered horrible losses in Bomber Command. My step grandfather was a B-17 navigator and just getting to the target area was difficult enough with the equipment available at the time. He said the Norden wasn't bad in ideal situations like training missions over the dessert. Flak, ME 109's, bad weather seldom provided ideal situations.

I am not holding any water for the Brits. But I suspect the back stabbing is the result from up on high than from the Army itself. It reeks of the elitist upper class snobs and Marxist back benchers. Still as the Aussies say the Poms never had a problem fighting to the last Aussie.
