Response to email: if car is recharged at night, low grid usage hours, the grids will not become overloaded. BUT you can bet you will be taxed out of your mind in lieu of a gasoline tax.
200 mi range? I'll bet they are assuming one driver, air conditioning off, flat land and a headwind. Rent a car to go on vacation. Rent a car to visit Aunt May who lives 80 miles away (would you really risk ending up on the side of the road and paying a tow). And how many times when you forget to charge or drive too much and it takes eight hours of charging to correct your mistake. Oops another rental car. Blackout during the night? Another rental car. Circuit breaker pops while charging? Another rental car. Kid has strep and you need the car just as you start to plug it in?
My minivan has unlimited range, I drove to Montreal, when it is empty it takes five minutes to add another 300 miles to range.
Better go to their site and read the specs. They also give you some sort of portable charger in case. Look, this isn't a base type of car until you can pull over to the side of the road and plug in. Right now a full charge (not recommended) takes 4hrs. I live in LA and the 250 mile limit works for me. I think the technology for electric cars is just about here.
I'd like a little more info on what kind of battery pack it takes to drive a 185kW motor.

28k/100 miles. I have a friend who is a firefighter safety- instructor and he was telling me that fire departments are already having to train their people on how to deal with the hy-bred vehicles. Some of these vehicles have buss-bars that carry 300v at high currents. That would give you a serious snap if you cut into it.
