Valkyre: A Nazis misunderstood movie from the get go
OK, it's true that a few Army guys tried to kill Hitler after the murder of 6 million Jews and another two or three million Jews, Gypsies, and other civilians on or near the battlefields, but to assert in any way that the German Army (Wehrmacht) was innocent of WWII atrocities and that the German general staff never engaged in war crimes is a total lie. Their near endless slaughter of Jews, Gypsies, and anyone who got in their way is documented to death in all media. Nearly 100 Wehrmacht officers were tried and convicted of things like mass murder, the order to kill all commissars caught on the Russian front, the notorious order from Rathenau's office instructing the army to execute all Jews including children, the willing army that assisted Hitler's rise to power, and so on. The German Army and their officers were deeply into mass murder and to assert otherwise is to further the canard that the German Army was somehow noble and tried to stop the SS time after time. In Valkyre Cruise plays the German officer, Claus von Stauffenberg, who finally planted a bomb that went off. It's also true that the Cruise character became anti-Nazi shortly after operation Barbarosa (the invasion of Russia) but von Stauffenberg had no problems with Nazis or Hitler up to that time. This new movie is a BTW exoneration of the German army for War Crimes committed by them and the whitewashing of Wehrmacht has been a goal of the Germans since 1945. With the high number of Jews in Hollywood, including many who were victims of the "innocent" German Army it is amazing that none of them has stood up for the truth.
