Art from the Right

Sometimes I wonder why the hell I'm a conservative, especially when so called conservative intellects start talking about movies. Case in point, the self styled"conservative" movie and entertainment blog called Big Hollywood that today has the dumbest fucking and slanted attitude piece you can imagine on display. The piece purports to prove that what everyone wants are totally pure movies, those without sex, or violence, or drugs, or killing, or....well you get it. They assert this because the "G" rated movies are the top grossing movies (they're not, only if you count video rentals). Of course a good kid movie will sell a ton more videos than a crime movie. This means that if we conservatives controlled things we'd have no Shakespeare (one of his plays has 26 murders ON STAGE), no Greek tragedies, no Japanese stuff at all (they are all gore fests), almost no early movies (which were as sex and blood drenched as one can imagine), the 30s crime movies, almost all......well, you get it. Of course a movie that draws families in which all admissions are for four or more tickets will out perform dramas or adult comedies that can't ever draw more than an average of 1-1/2 per. I guess movies like like Hollywood Confidential or Sunset Boulevard or all the other sex or drug related dramas are to be forgotten. I'd hate to have a Bambi or Pollyanna to see everywhere which is what most conservative film sites seem to want.

BTW most conservatives I know love sex and violence, in fact without real conflict including murder and mayhem there is no story. Can you imagine a sanitized French Connection? A cleaned up Roadrunner cartoon?

So whenever I see a conservative movie site I usually pass it by for one of those hard left sites where stories about fucking and sucking for kiddies get honest reviews.
