Real Liberals Turning on Mr. Fascist

Most of you convey surprise to me every time I mention that at least 50% of working stock and commodities brokers are liberals, not conservatives. The reasons include in no particular order: joining the trendy club; environmentalism; opposition to the Iraq War; family habits going all the way back to the Great Depression and the New Deal; and the general concern for those who we all know cannot compete because of mental or physical handicaps. Most of us are repelled by the "right's" attitudes toward sex, mild drugs (pot), the seeming urge to censor movies and books; the "rub our nose in it" expressions of religion as a rule in our society; a seeming heartlessness in many of those on the Right with whom we come in contact. It is safe to say, that with the exception of the Reagan Revolution, most of us have been voting to the Left since 2000 believing to our core beings that people should not be making a hundred million dollars per year in the investment business; that the investment business has the social function of creating wealth for other people, not us. Overriding this is the knowledge that the ethics in our business stink, that in many instances we are required by management to fuck our customers, and that as a society we are victimizing others financially.

Having said all this I hope you will read Cramer's fairly long piece in The Street today. I mentioned yesterday that the Liberals I know in West LA and Brentwood are appalled by the Obama revolution and feel to their souls that this administration's main purpose is the destruction of wealth, the crushing of greedy capitalism, and government control of our economy. These Democrats are a disaster for our country. They intend to destroy all wealth as a means of "doing what is right." I don't kow if we can stop them.
