Talk about being wrong, I really was on thinking that the CBS Reagan movie was all a publicity stunt. I said that nobody would be that stupid. Well it looks like they are and were. The "spin" on this was that the original producers "pitched" (meaning an oral presentation) a love story. What they delivered is a "hit piece". Well if this is true there will be a law suit. Nobody just "pitches". A "pitch" is always followed up by a "treatment", or a multi-page outline of the story. This still smells, but the story being told is that the producers are Left Wing maniacs and CBS is shocked. I know many people who work as editors and line producers, some at CBS, and they are really in the dark too. Everybody is saying the same thing: "I don't know. I never heard about it." Meaning this "hit piece" was done in secret, impossible in Hollywood. This is a very curious situation. Keep in mind that the craft unions are no pals of the SAG/Directors Guild/Writers Guild who they regard as trendy Lefty strike breakers, and guys on the set would have shot their mouths off long before the movie was "wrapped". Barbra now claiming she never read the script is a lie on its face. Having been married while an actor, my wife always read every script and every wife and husband always reads the script. People would be just as pissed if the same thing had been done to Jimmy Carter and his wife. If true, and I still think something is fishy about this, Hollywood has really gone ethically south.
