Kerik, the former police super of NY did not withdraw as Homeland Chief because of a nanny problem. He had some serious ethical problems in how he handled his job. On at least two occasions he used on duty police "squads" to conduct his personal business. He deployed an "elite" homicide squad to track down a cell phone owned by his book publisher and he was fined for using police detectives to research his book.

Too bad, he looked perfect for the job, but Mother Theresa he ain't. As competent as he is, the ACLU would have killed him. I'm sure that the two reported abuses are just two of a dozen or so, and a guy who dispatches elite units on personal business cannot be head of Homeland Security.
