At least once a week you owe it to yourself to drop by Strategy Page. Every time I do I learn something new (to me).....

Steve Nash MVP??? Steve Nash? The guy who missed at least five open jump shots in the fourth quarter? The guy who turned the ball over two times in the fourth quarter, the last turnover costing them the game? Rapist Kobe Bryant did neither and won the game with a clutch impossible shot to barely beat the buzzer. Kobe is MVP, face it.

Now Reynolds
is disenchanted with the Republicans. I just don't see how anyone who can think can support these totally out of the ball park tax and spend crooks. BTW his site is now good again, it must have been writing the book that got it so nothing.

An easy prediction:

Today's illegale boycott will backfire, for sure.

Any lost sales at WalMart or Dollar General Stores will easily be caught up by the end of this month, if not the end of this week.

Maybe some lawn clippings will go unblown or hotel beds unmade or dishes unbussed today. but that's trivial.

And even at employers such as Tyson foods, which is excusing its good people from work today, it's going to dawn on the bosses of exploited Latino labor that maybe those illegales aren't such reliable workers, after all. Let 'em get away with this May Day thing, and pretty soon they'll join unions and try to strike.

What's really going to crimp Latino power is the looming downturn in real estate development and construction business. It will be similar to what has happened in Europe: let 'em all in because there is a perceived shortage of low skill labor, and then hand labor businesses trend down and there is a glut of day laborers. Too bad.

P.S.: Has it occurred to anyone else that millions of illegales in this country cause gasoline prices to go up and cause the USA's ecological health to go down, becasue of their energy consumption?

A era without Mexicans is an era with cheaper gas, fewer traffic jams, and cleaner air.

Slate's Mickey Kaus:

..

What mass transit couldn't do: $3.50 gas appears to have had one effect: for the time being, it's at least partially solved L.A.'s worsening traffic congestion problem. On Monday I made it from the beach to Eagle Rock in 45 minutes at rush hour--that's normally an hour-and-a-half drive . It won't last--people will grow accustomed to the price and start driving again--and I assume it's hardest on the working poor. But, speaking selfishly, if I had a choice of a) paying $4 a gallon and getting where I want to go in as little time as it took 20 years ago and b) paying $1.50 a gallon but spending twice as much time to get there, it would be a no-brainer. $4 is a bargain! Will a secret base of support for higher gas prices emerge in the suburban upper middle class of previously frustrated drivers? 12:05 P.M.

Kaus must live in a different part of LA than I do. If there is less traffic is like water being less wet.

You mean the guy who helped the suns to win by over 31 points last night?????? Getting them to the second round.... the guy that has lead his team all season without STAT their starting center???? Come on, I am a basketball player and know it not all about shoots..... steve is the reason that the suns are in the semis!!!!!!!!! For your info...... Steve is the reason behind the Suns last two great seasons....... Steve should get MVP because of what he has done for his team not what shoots he makes... playing point for my own team i know not all shoots go... my team won by 22 points and I had 3 points and dished out tons of assists.... just like steve nash and that is what makes him him.... plus he can drive by centers and make a layup even when they are on him that are over a foot taller then him!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats talent
