Former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger warned that Europe and the United States must unite to head off a "war of civilizations" arising from a nuclear-armed Middle East. All news articles say this appeared yesterday in the WaPo but even the search for the Kissinger name at the Post site yields nothing. Kissinger is just the latest of some really smart people who are aware of this Civilization Clash. If you haven't read Huntington's Clash of Civilizations, (Amazon link) create a couple of hours over two weekends and read it. Unlike most "smart" books which, like diet books, have all that's important on the last ten pages, this book is a must read from cover to cover. Liberals have pooh pooed this book for years but lately many have come around because they fear that he is correct. The net problem as I see it is that the birth rate in Europe is so low that they can no longer stand for anything; our birth rate is only OK because Catholic Hispanics have large numbers of children. As our liberal elites cower before every purr of a kitten, I think the book is correct in that Western Civilization is toast, unless..... Yahoo has a story.
