I went to run on the beach and the gas station was selling unleaded for $2.79. Two hours later when I passed the same station it was at $2.77. (unleaded gas chart right) Crude dropped nearly $2 today. To keep everything in perspective, take a look at the weekly crude chart at the bottom of the page. It was just about two years ago that crude was selling at $32.50 per. Today we wax euphoric because crude is selling at two times the price of two years ago.Above is the chart of crude oil futures.
