AN ESSAY THAT MIGHT BE ACTUALLY GREAT

Kim duToit, he of "guns and steak medium rare, or else" links to an essay that is far better than good. Every one of us needs to read it because each and every one of us is more than just "mentioned." The author, Thomas Flemming, uses the Salt Lake City shooting as a departure point for self examination:

Truth, in America today, is whatever story can be trimmed to fit an historical template created by pop historians, high school civics teachers, news producers, State Department spokesmen—and other propagandists.

It probably does not need saying, but I’ll say it anyway: Political liberty cannot survive in a country in which public “debate” consists of statements made by dishonest law enforcement agencies, a lying and ignorant press corps, and the self-abusing white trash who infest the blogosphere.
"You dare to call me white trash, you miserable cocksucker," was my first reaction, but then I remembered that I got to where I am today by latching on to the first and least likely conspiracy theory in order explain great events. I use different stuff to explain things like rain (the great dog in the sky lifts his leg), ocean waves too small to surf (the giant on the bottom of the ocean just off the Huntington Beach Pier is in bed with the flu), and the USC loss to Texas in last year's championship game (Nostradamus predicted it and he's never wrong).

Read it. You will be better for it and far more able to swim through blogger bullshit, corrupt media, and indifferent politicians and cops.

Then girls in parts of Paris afraid that if they don't wear a hadj (head covering) that they will be slashed across the face with a knife; that if they look wrong they will be raped; and no liquior can be sold anywhere. And all this is legal. Read it and see the result of the "democratic" imposition of Sharia Law in Paris.

For the record: I like my steak well-done.

None of that nonsense of trying to hold down a mooing, thrashing animal on my plate while I try to eat it.

I had enough of that with Wife #1.

If you haven't read Theodore Dalrymple's piece iver at City Journal about the muslim ghettos in France, it is worth a look. And that was a few years ago. I was in France years ago in college to "study" and ended up in one of those muslim areas of town. I was dry sniped by everyone. They would have killed me if they could. Somebody later told me to stay out of there (No shit, really? Why?). Apparently 5 times a day the place shuts down for prayer. And you had better be praying. Totally fucked up. I can only imagine what it is like today, maybe like the casbah from Algiers when that French when in there to clean it out of FLN. Looking back it was a wonder I didn't have my throat slit like a sheep. I'll take North Philadelphia any day and Newark, NJ looks like a paradise compared to that shit. And no booze either!? Talk about a terrible place. I bet the frogs wish the OAS was still around. Paris will be burning, mon amis, and this time it won't be just cars and it won't be the Krauts that do it.

And Mr. Du Toit, I had wiltblitz and bobotie the other day. Any culture that produces stuff like that is OK in my book.

Flemming is a brilliant writer, if a bit isolationist for my taste. He's been doing excellent work for years, the sort of thing that makes one lament that Chronicles isn't available on the newsstand.
