LETTERS FROM FORMER COPS
COMMENTERS sometimes send comments that are so good that we bloggers turn them into our post. Such is the case today over at Sue Bob's Diary, a blog devoted only to the Border Patrol Agent miscarriage of justice. Here is just a taste of a comment that needs to be read by all of us. It shows us just what effect bureaucracy and CYA rules have on working level cops in the field, the effects they have on "we" the people they are supposed to serve, as well as how they have seriously impacted the Border Patrol Agents case. The comment is by a retired state trooper in Ohio. Just a taste of a very long post:
Unfortunately I have (at times) seen officers with a lazy attitude. They are not concerned with some of the major crimes. They would rather do the little things that do not get them in trouble. In the Patrol it was writing radar-based speeding tickets instead of interdicting drugs, finding stolen cars, weapons and DUI violators. Searching for (and finding) drugs or weapons means a ton of paperwork (and time and hassle) in my organization. Guys with 20 years of service “doing their job” have never made a large drug bust while guys with just a few years on have repeatedly done so.The entire must read comment is HERE I add that the comments over at her site are among the best anywhere. She has an unusually sophisticated readership. And the case gets wider and wider as one more border agent quits and two other border agents fight for jobs after testifying in Ramos-Compean case. The stink actually comes from the White House.
In my investigations of such things as police shootings, pursuits, etc., I have found a pattern of very poor documentation and reporting by officers all too often. I have seen cases where officers had to be ordered to write statements about what happened in Union shops. You can imagine the lack of thoroughness, spontaneity, and veracity of some of these statements. I have seen cases where other officers resented being put on the spot by the officers involved. Indeed, I can recall officers that I compelled to back me up during dynamic situations being irritated by me when I needed them, as it inconvenienced them or required them to stay over after work. Getting someone to back me up near shift change was a chore. The drug interdiction unit that I later supervised had a Post that routinely sabotaged my people because of our mission and the inconveniences we caused them
Late Add: WND has a blockbuster addition today. The outrageous conduct of the government and the judge are being exposed.
A report by a Department of Homeland Security agent confirms the drug smuggler given immunity to testify against imprisoned border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean committed a second offense, which was hidden by prosecutors, and identifies the smuggler's accomplice. The fucking judge and government threatened to jail the FAMILIES? This is positively Soviet. I blame Bush directly. Bush. Gonzales is just another mediocre piece of shit appointed by our peerless leader.
As WND previously reported, El Paso Judge Kathleen Cardone sealed all information about smuggler Osbaldo Aldrete-Davila's second offense and refused to allow the defense to present the information to the jury.
Cardone placed the attorneys involved in the Ramos-Compean case under a gag order and threatened to prosecute the families if any member discussed publicly Aldrete-Davila's second drug-smuggling incident.
